Can AI Cure Every Disease Within 10 Years? DeepMind’s CEO Thinks So

Is it possible that, in just one decade, we might say goodbye to most diseases?

That’s exactly what Demis Hassabis — CEO of Google DeepMind — believes. And it’s not a wild dream. According to him, AI could soon help create a single drug that targets multiple diseases at once.

Why the optimism? Because we’re already seeing it.

DeepMind’s AlphaFold tool has already predicted the structure of over 200 million proteins. That kind of biological map, once thought impossible, is now fueling new treatments and insights across pharma and medicine.

The idea is simple: AI learns patterns in biology faster than any scientist ever could. With the right models and data, it can generate treatment candidates for complex diseases — from cancer to rare genetic disorders — in record time.

And Demis isn’t the only one thinking this way. Other AI leaders and researchers are nodding along. Aravind Srinivas of Perplexity agreed the direction is clear: AI isn't just diagnosing. It's designing cures.

Of course, there are challenges — clinical trials, safety, ethics — but the hope? That diseases which haunted humanity for centuries might meet their match.

And it all starts with code.
